Honeymoon in Shimla
Honeymoon in Shimla - Shimla's heavenly beauty has attracted newlyweds from all over the world for decades. The state capital of Himachal Pradesh, 'The Region of Snowy Mountains', Shimla is situated in the northwest Himalayas. Famous for its pine and deodar forests and pleasing weather, Britishers treated Shimla as India's summer capital during their centuries-old rule in the country.
It still holds a colonial aura. You can still see tudorbethan (a combination of Tudor, Elizabethan, and Jacobean styles) and neo-gothic architecture and a lot of colonial monuments here.
The Ridge road and the Mall Road are probably the most popular hangouts among youngsters. The yellow Christ Church, built in neo-Gothic style in 1844, and a tudorbethan-styled library building, built in 1910 are the prominent landmarks on the Ridge. It offers fantabulous views of the snow-capped ranges of the Himalayas.
The place is also famous for its Summer Festival, a fun and enjoyable event, which gathers a large number of men and women. You can also visit Gaiety theatre, Mock library, Town Hall and General Post Office. Mall road, located in the heart of the town, is the main street in the city. It has a number of hotels, restaurants, cafes, showrooms and shops. Simply strolling on this road in the evenings, since no traffic is allowed here, is a fun in itself.
Its nearby places such as Kufri and Chail also offer beautiful environs and some great views. Kufri, 19km from Shimla, experiences heavy snowfall in December and January and is a heaven for adventure-loving travellers. Chail, 45km from Shimla, is a picturesque town surrounded by forests of chir pine and huge deodars. Similarly, Craignano, Mashobra, Tattapani and Naldhera are also famous for their unique natural beauty.
You can also include a visit to Jakhoo Hill, Prospect Hill, Summer Hill and Chadwick Falls in your honeymoon package. Honeymoon in Shimla is probably the easiest way to make this most awaited trip a lifetime memory, since every bit of Shimla is so beautiful that even if you manage to visit just a few places here, your honeymoon album will be full of beautiful pictures.
